The Lumineers are an indie folk band based in Denver Colorado. The founding members of the group are Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. Wesley is the lead vocalist and guitarist whilst Jeremiah is on the drums and percussion. In 2002, Josh Fraites, the brother of Jeremiah and the best friend of Wesley died of a drug overdose. As an attempt to cope with the loss, the pair decided to start writing and performing with each other in New Jersey. The third member of the band Neyla Pekerek joined the band in 2010 as a cellist and vocalist.
The Lumineers are mainly known for their 2012 hit "Ho Hey". The same year they also released their self titled album which eventually reached number 2 in the Billboard 200 chart on January 3rd. By December, there debut album was certified platinum in the US and Ireland and also received gold certifications in the UK, Canada and Australia.
The Lumineers second studio album is called Cleopatra. The album was released on the 8th of April 2016. The album debut at number 1 in the UK charts and Billboard 200.
