Intertextuality

Intertextuality refers to how certain types of media may influence other pieces of media. An example of this is when artists make reference to a film in their music videos. Here are some examples of this.

Iggy Azelia has taken Intertextuality into consideration when she has made her music video for her song 'fancy'. She has done this by using the same designs, outfits and even scenarios used in the film.

This method of intertextuality is one of the most explicit methods. If we was to look at some of the more discrete versions we would look at when artists use actors in their videos. This will be beneficial towards the artist as fans of the actor featured will want to view the video. Some of examples of musicians who have featured actors in their music videos are Ed Sheeran and George Ezra. With Rupert Grint featuring in Ed Sheeran's 'Lego House' and Sir Ian McKellan featuring in George Ezra's 'Listen to the Man'.
